Commerce Township is located about 32 miles northwest of the city of Detroit, and is bordered by Walled Lake, Wixom and contains the village of Wolverine Lake. Because of this, residents of Commerce get the best of both world's - close enough to the city of Detroit if they want to catch a Detroit Tigers game, but they also get a slice of nature right on their doorstep.
Commerce Township is full of recreational opportunities thanks to the Proud Lake State Recreation Area and the Huron River, which runs mostly north-south through the township (which contains numerous lakes). Some of the communities that get to take advantage of all this natural beauty include Glengary, Oakley Park, Union Lake and the aforementioned Wolverine Lake.
Walled Lake Northern, Walled Lake Central and Walled Lake Western High Schools are all located within the township.
